Below is a list of torrent managing clients that we recommend
(The following list is from another more established site (with some changes)... but we currently only recommend uTorrent) uTorrent can run under wine, for Linux users. MAC, there's Transmission which has worked fine so far with our tracker, but MAKE SURE DHT and Peer Exchange is off for our torrents. See bottom for more infoz

Recommended
uTorrent - "well-behaved" & honors the private flag and automatically turns off DHT and Peer Exchange.
uTorrentMac
kTorrent, rTorrent,cTorrent.
Transmission, Deluge

Not Recommended or Banned
Azureus pre. v.4- compatibility issues with tracker. Reports double download. Currently no/unknown fix... reason/cause is unknown.
BitComet - dishonors the private flag. (google it... banned from many private sites)
BitSpirit - Major compatibility issues with tracker. "ballooned" download. Currently no/unknown fix... reason/cause is unknown.
BitLord - Major compatibility issues with tracker. "ballooned" download. Currently no/unknown fix... reason/cause is unknown.

You can try those on the list below at your own risk.
Not Fully tested / reported
BitBuddy
BitsOnWheels
BitTorrent (Mainline) versions 4.20.x
Burst!
G3 Torrent
GetRight
LimeWire
Opera Browser
Rufus
Shadow's
Shareaza
TorrentStorm
TurboBT
UPnP NAT Bit Torrent
uTorrent versions prior to 1.3.0.0
XTorrent (unless based on libtransmission 0.7)
XanTorrent
XBT
BitTornado

If you do find that any of these will work well... your very welcomed to inform us of it :D.

In short, your share ratio and download speed will suffer by sharing with non-members (the tracker cannot track that loss). Using a "well-behaved" clients benefits the user as well as the site.

Also see chapter 3 and 4 about private trackers and choosing a torrent manager and why we need to limit client types.

(a user named Bacon Bits) said:

DHT = "Trackerless". The P2P traffic is not managed by the tracker, like it normally is, but by the clients. This enables faster transfer, but interferes with the tracker's ability to manage piece distribution.

Private = "Tracker only". Well-behaved clients see the private tag and ignore trackerless requests. Usually for sites that have download ratios or other methods that force users to upload a certain amount of content in order to continue to download.

The problem with using DHT on a private torrent is that the data in the torrent file you download that identifies who you are (for your account ratio) gets passed to other users. That screws up your ratio because others are downloading with your account info. You can very quickly find yourself below the enforced limit if you don't disable DHT.

Reason for edit: added Deluge and rTorrent

There are no solid rules. There are no rules for staff, but there are rules for you, use your common sense to figure it out by way of example, it is not difficult. Staff do as they will and see fit, they were chosen for their logical common sense and being able to view the bigger picture. If someone gets banned and didn't even break any rules, it probably means you've upset them somehow. Simple, just be "nicer".

Ask yourself that question you're about to post before you post.
